Women and Women with Children

With all the welfare reforms being implemented, the need for our services by economically disadvantaged women is growing more rapidly than ever. We at CHAP Outreach Ministries fond that we need to expand our existing services to meet the increasing demand.

The purpose of this program is to help women in crisis situations such as homeless shelters, safe housing shelters, prison release programs, and chemical dependency programs get back on their feet and begin living productive lives again. We can help women re-establish households, obtain food and clothing for themselves and their dependent children, and prepare themselves to re-enter the workforce.

Here are some of the ways you can help:

Dressed for the Workplace service provides used businesslike clothing for work and interviews, as well as shoes, purses, jewelry, make-up kits, nylons, and possibly haircuts. You may donate items you no longer wear but are still in great shape. If you are a hairstylist or beauty consultant, you may donate products along with your services.

CHAP Outreach Ministries will help re-establish households by supplying items that are available through our store at the time of need, such as furniture, bedding, household items, small appliances, etc. You can help by donating items you no longer use that are in good working condition.

CHAP Outreach Ministries will furnish initial food supply for newly established households through the food shelf program.

We will furnish initial needs of all dependent children with clothing and toys from items available through the CHAP Store.

Our client and her family will automatically be enrolled for our Adopt a Family for Christmas program.

With additional funding, CHAP Outreach Ministries plans to make the following basic training courses available:

Computer training for entry-level job positions
Household Management training which includes financial training, developing budgets, and nutritional training.
CHAP Outreach Ministries will assist clients in locating other training or resources that may be available to them within our servicing area.
